Our airport is located in a quite flat part of Slovakia but close to mountains and is about 8 km south of the Zobor hill of Tribec Mountains. During the summer thermals allows long soaring flights to be made both locally and cross-country. When the wind is from a south direction, you can ridge souring near the Zobor hill. When the wind is from a north direction, and when the conditions are right the airflow from the north coming across the Povazsky Inovec mountains can generate mountain wave systems, and such conditions allow flights to be made to altitudes of up to 3000 m. This can happen at any time of year, and give very smooth rides once you get above the lower rougher air near the ground. Due to the geographic location the weather is very good. Soaring conditions are usually very good from March until late October.
This field is great for student pilots, beginners and all those who are interested in fun flying but too of competition and extreme cross-country.
We are a club with about 85 active members, mixed out of different income and social groups. Members are expected to help in doing some maintenance or any other necessary work. We get in the air with a tow plane and by winch, which belongs to our club. Tows cost in depending on the type of the tow plane.
