General and Local Competition Rules

The FAI Sporting Code General Section and Section 3 with its Annexes will apply. Final version of the Rules and additional Local Regulations will be attached to Bulletin and distributed, after their approval by IGC, to all NAC and competitors concerned. Below we inform you in advance of some important matters:

  1. Each NAC may enter up to 3 pilots and 1 reserve pilot to each class.
  2. The number of entries will be limited as follows:
  • maximum number of gliders in the class - 50
  • maximum number of gliders in all classes – 120

If some class does not have at least ten participants from at least five NAC compete on the first Championship day, the contest will take place but no Champion will be declared.

  1. The present World Champions are automatically qualified and will be admitted in addition to the above quota. (They must, however, be entered by the NAC).

  2. Reserve pilots will be admitted after April 30, 2003 if vacancies exist and provided that entry fees for the officially entered pilots have been received correctly.

  3. The rules concerning the visibility of contest numbers will be strictly observed. If two contest numbers are identical or easily confused (e.g. "India, India" and "one, one") the competitor who entered later will be required to change.

  4. Documentation will be by GNSS only. All flight recorders, which have received IGC approval for championships by March 31, 2003, will be admitted. This applies to both primary and secondary flight recorders.

  5. The Organisers will provide diskettes with the co-ordinates of the departure / turn / position control points, and restricted areas in the required formats, but it is the responsibility of the competitors to load these into their flight recorders or other navigational equipment.

  6. The Championships will be held in the following classes described in the main body of Section 3 of the Sporting Code, Chapter 7.:
    - World class
  7. Weight limits (maximum take-off mass):
World class – Equal maximum take-off mass will be used for all gliders. Maximum take-off mass for PW5 is 300 kg.

  8. It is the intention of the Organisers to use GNSS flight path tracking equipment to follow the progress of the pilots on task. If not enough units are available for all competitors, they will be given to the leading pilots in each class.

Competitors

A competitor must be a citizen or resident of the country of the entering NAC and satisfy the conditions of the FAI Sporting Code, Gen. l Section 3.7 on citizenship and representation, and must:
