Trencin

The city of Trenčín, with 60.000 inhabitants, is situated in the middle of Middle Považie (the landscape along the river Váh) and is the residence of the region Trenčianský kraj. Trenčín is one of the most beautiful towns in Slovakia.
In Trenčín there´s a unique inscription in the rock, which commemorates the victory of a Roman Legion over Quads. The inscription is a rare evidence of that Trenčín existed in the year of 179 AD and was called Laugaricio – Leukaritos.
Situated by the river
Váh in a beautiful valley, Trenčín, is surrounded by the mountains of White Carpathy on the western side and by Strážovské vrchy on the eastern side.
Trenčín is a town of a rich history and many cultural sights. Among the most wellknown are:

 

The Trenčín Castle (Trenčiansky hrad)

A national cultural sight, built between the years 1260 – 1790. In the castle courtyard there´s a well, 79 meters deep, called "The Well of Love" and connected to the legend about the love between Omar and the beutiful Fatima.

(Hradné schody)

A roofed staircase in "Farská Street", built in 1568.

The Synagogue (Synagóga)

The synagogue is built in byzantine architecture in the beginning of the 20th century and you find it by "Štúr Square".

The Plague Column (Morový stĺp)

The column stands in the Square of Peace (Mierové námestie), built after the plague epidemy, which was in 1710.

The Piarist Church (Piaristický kláštor)

In the Square of Peace (Mierové námestie) there´s a Piarist Church built in early baroque style with frescos by K. Tausch.

Trencianske Teplice

world-famous spa, known from the 14th century, looked for mainly by patients with illnessess of extremities and nervous system. Extentionally valuable building is the spa house HAMMAN, built in year 1888 - 1890 in the style of oriental Buildings. In the spa park there is the known spa curtier where festivals of classical music Music Summer is annually organised.

Motesice

village famous for the breeding of race horses. Visitors can have a ride on horses in the biggest inside ridding school in Central Europe, or to have a ride by a coachman in a horse carriage in the terrain.
